The Secrets of Flowers by Sally Page

Sally uses the skills of a florist who chooses the flowers to fashion the perfect bouquet. She weaves her words into a journey the reader will ride across an emotional mix of joy, sorrow and the tension of a secret hidden from view.

As the writer, Sally has her reader in mind, ensuring that every page impacts one or more of the reader’s senses. The mystery of who arranges the flowers on the Titanic's only voyage becomes Emma's quest. In the answer, she discovers friendship, hope and a sense of purpose. All the characters are relatable, and many readers will see them as friends by the end of the book.

The Secrets of Flowers uses the imagery and hidden language in flowers. The story hooks you as you become part of the tangled mystery Emma finds herself in. Emma is a hidden bud, amongst a floral display. Widow a year, she is rudderless, until she gives a talk on the Titanic.

With sleuthing of the first order Emma pulls back the hidden layers to reveal the men and women who served hidden from view the first class passengers. The people needed to run the complex world on the high seas went unnoticed.

Sally Pages, the deft storyteller, made me smile and shed a tear whilst teasing my brain as you want to find out who arranged the flowers and whether they survived.

Secrets are unlocked will they release Emma? It certainly left me in awe of the powerful storytelling. This is a gorgeous read, comforting, and intriguing. The Secret of the Flowers lingers long after the last page is read.
